Vipiteno

On discovery tour in the Fugger town
Colourful facades, picturesque alleys and a lot of history. Even today, Italy's northernmost city impresses visitors from all over the world with its architectural, historical and cultural splendor as well as with one of Italy's most beautiful old towns!
Especially in the Middle Ages "Vipitenum" flourished under the rule of the Fugger family. Even after this time, the city was often a popular retreat for kings and emperors.
Today, the medieval flair blends with modern charm: you can see that particularly well on the pedestrian zone, where colorful shops, trendy bars and fine restaurants surprise strollers and explorers under ancient bay windows and among buildings overflowing with history.
All around the mountains cradle the picturesque Vipiteno. Sweetly and tenderly - on the one hand to protect the city, on the other to highlight its beauty. An impressive mountain backdrop that lends the former Fugger town a unique Alpine flair.
Strolling, shopping, discovering art and culture, savouring - Vipiteno makes all this possible!
In between you can sip a Veneziano in the sun and enjoy hand-rolled speck dumplings. Pamper yourself with this wonderful combination of Alpine and Mediterranean!
In the evening the fun goes on in restaurants and bars with lively music and tasty food! Throughout the whole year, many events, such as the Dumpling Festival and the Yogurt Days, fill Vipiteno with cheerful sounds, bright lights and a lively atmosphere.

Culture & Art lovers

Old Gothic churches, such as the parish church Madonna della Palude, medieval castles in the surroundings, such as Castel Tasso in Campo di Trens, and exciting museums, such as the Vipiteno Municipal Museum or the Multscher Museum, are real treats for art and culture lovers. But the most important highlight and landmark of the Fugger town is the 46-metre-high Tower of the Twelve, the former city gate, which still separates the old town from the new town.

"Die Färbe" in Vipiteno

Our house has also contributed to the history of Vipiteno and its medieval pedestrian zone. Where the Hotel Garni Färbe is located today, a few centuries ago there was a hospital for the poor and after that a dyehouse (in German: Färberei – hence the name of our hotel).
If you want to learn more about the former Fugger town, we recommend you to take part in a guided city tour.
